Yes, I was one of those people who signed up to be a beta user for Facebook’s new Graph Search.
I didn’t get an email or a notification: I just logged into Facebook one day and it was changed…which isn’t the best way to do things. For everybody. Especially me. I manage four or five different pages on Facebook and I’m very used to going about my business in a certain way. I didn’t like the inclusion of the new search bar at the top left corner where you can search for people, places and things. I also couldn’t help but roll my eyes at some of the other suggestions like “restaurants nearby” (aren’t there already dozens of versions of this service?) or “games my friends play” (can’t I just ask them?) or music my friends like or friends of my friends (why do want to befriend a random stranger?). That was my gut reaction to Graph Search: why? Why let me search for information that I can find just by asking someone? It feels a little “creepy-stalker.”
More after the JUMP…
