Nevus: We here at Rocksauce Studios couldn’t be more proud of Nevus, our latest mobile app (which was featured today on Appolicious). In fact, we think it can save lives! If you’ll allow us to quote our official description, “Nevus is a mobile app dedicated to the care and protection of your body’s largest organ – your skin!” Yep, Nevus is a dermatologist-approved skincare app, designed to help you track any re-occurring skin issues and prevent any new problems. Using your smartphone camera, you can can keep a photographic record of lesions or moles as they grow or shrink, having visual evidence to share with your dermatologist. Nevus will examine the weather in your area and let you know how much sunscreen you need to apply (and how often you need to re-apply!). Nevus will never replace your local dermatologist, but ninety nine cents is an absolute bargain for the next best thing!
Noshlist: We’re a big fan of Nosh over here at Rocksauce Studios. In a mobile landscape filled with all kinds of restaurant review and recommendation apps, it manages to stand out in a big way through gorgeous design and an emphasis on photography. However, Nosh isn’t just making apps for the diners, it’s making apps for the restaurant as well! Noshlist is an app designed to replace clipboards and buzzers at restaurants, letting restaurant employees manage customer wait times with an iPad. The app lists customer names, the size of their group and the estimated wait time. When a table is available, the host or hostess taps the name and a text is sent to alert the group that their table is ready. A second tap will actually make a phone call. Pretty cool, huh?
Faced.me: Is this slightly creepy and incredibly convenient? You be the judge! Faced.me is an upcoming facial recognition and socia networking app. Meet a potential contact at a party? Start the app, snap a picture of their face using your device’s camera and watch as the app matches their face to all of their online profiles, allowing you to immediately friend them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter. Although it’s easy to imagine the worst with an app like this (creepy stalkers harassing girls at parties and so on and so forth), there’s no denying what cool technology this is. With Faced.me, you never have to fumble for a pen and paper to take a name or exchange business cards. You just take a picture and you’re connected!
