For the next eight days, its going to be a little quieter around the Rocksauce Studios. With so many filmmakers and film buffs on staff, it’s only natural that a handful of our hardworking guys and gals would use their hard-earned vacation time to attend Austin’s own Fantastic Fest, a genre film festival unlike any other. But don’t worry, Tapsauce readers! I’ll still be around with daily news reports and I’ll also be testing out the official Fantastic Fest app on the ground at the fest. On top of that, I’ll be profiling how social media and apps have changed the fest-going experience. Not to mention, you’ll still have the rest of the great Tapsauce staff around to keep you informed and happy!

And now onto the news!

Well, more specifically, onto the Apple news, as the iPhone 5 continues to dominate headlines all over the world.

First of all, you better have ordered yours by now. Shipping estimates have jumped to 3-4 weeks due to sheer demand, which means that if you weren’t on your computer ordering ones day ago, your best bet is to try your luck at your local brick and mortar shop come Friday. However, early buzz suggests that the trouble may be worth it. Both TechCrunch and Engadget have reviews of Apple’s latest smartphone and both are absolute raves. Both sites agree that this isn’t just the best iPhone yet, but a big jump forward for smartphones in general. And you thought you had reached the peak of your excitement…

We really liked the Skitch app for Android when we reviewed it back in the day, but it looks like it got a nice, Evernote-funded upgrade on its way to iPhone. It will be right at home on your new iPhone 5:

To close us out, Samsung is continuing its hasty way on Apple with an ad that tries to convince iOS fans to switch to the Galaxy S III by telling them that they’re stupid. GOOD CALL SAMSUNG!
