We here at Rocksauce Studios use Twitter every single day to interact with potential clients, influencers and industry giants in the tech and app world. It’s important for us to use twitter to engage discussions about the latest in the mobile industry and to see what’s interesting to our followers. We have adopted some best practices that help enhance our experiences on Twitter.

Here are our top 3!

1. Use of Hashtags: There are several reasons why you should use hashtags on Twitter. If someone is searching for the topic you’re tweeting about, they’re more likely to find you if you use a hashtag. If you are following conversations on Twitter, it’s a good way to search and see what people have to say about the topic as well. During SXSW, festival goers will include #SXSW in their tweets to communicate with other festival goers. Businesses can also create their own hashtags to engage users and  it’s also a great way to generate buzz around a marketing campaign.

2. Tiny URLUsing a service like tinyurl.com makes it easier for you to squeeze in everything you want to say into 140 characters and link to in your tweet. You can even add a bookmark to tinyurl.com to your bookmark toolbar- similar to Pinterest, to make your tweeting experience more efficient.

3. Use a Management Tool for Tweeting on the Go!: We use a number of twitter clients to be responsive to our twitter mentions and messages when we’re not at our offices. Hootsuite, Twitterific, Tweetbot are the three most used twitter management tools that operate terrificially through their apps. Since the @rocksaucestudio account is managed by more than one person, it makes it easier for us to have access to twitter on multiple devices.

In the long run, you need to find out what works best for your business. What to tweet about, when to tweet about it and who to engage about certain subjects. It’s all trial and error, and the trick with social media: especially twitter — once you think you’ve figured it out — the trends and habits of twitter users will change again.
