sxsw

Earlier this week, I ran across this article suggesting a long list of overpriced “survival bag” items to pack for SXSW. I live in Austin, so the only things I’ll be packing are my iPhone pre-loaded with handy apps and a small purse with a charger cable and wet-naps. Regardless of what you’re packing in your survival bag, you should have a few apps to help you survive and stay organized. Read more about my must have SXSW Survival Guide Apps to survive SXSW this year!

First of all, it’s really important to have more than one twitter app on your phone in the event that your go to twitter app happens to malfunction when you need it the most! I personally use Twitterific and Tweetbot, but others recommend Echofon too. I’m planning on surfing the #SXSW and #SXSWi while  at SXSW Interactive.

Secondly, if you have a badge and have signed up for SxSocial, you need to download the app to keep your schedule in one place that syncs with your online account, maps to help you find venues for the hundreds of events, and an exhibitor guide.

Additionally, if you’re a party-goer it may behoove you to download and set up an account with the Eventbrite app. Many parties at SXSW are RSVP only and you don’t want to get stuck without your name on the list of popular parties hosted by Pandora or Mashable.

Other suggestions include packing snacks and a refillable water bottle. Food can get pricey and lines will be long. You never know if or when it will rain at SXSW and you don’t want to get stuck hungry while waiting in line in the rain.

If you’re going to SXSW:Film, you can bookmark this link to keep track of the Venue Status Boards to see if your movies are sold out. There are a few movies I’m looking forward to seeing this year, Kickstarter Successes Grow Up Tony Phillips and Zero Charisma.
